Mount Royal University is practice-oriented, with more than 70 percent of undergraduate majors integrated into community service learning and more than 300,000 cumulative hours of community service. Graduates are highly employable, with 91% of graduates finding jobs in their field of study within six months of graduation and 94% of degree graduates successfully employed within two years of graduation. Graduates can expect to earn an average salary of $65,000 to $70,000 in a short period of time.2024 MRU was ranked by Forbes as the 19th best employer in Canada, and was the only Alberta post-secondary institution in the top 50 to make the list.
Entry Requirements and Fees
Language requirements are IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 83. To apply for undergraduate programs, you need to have graduated from high school with an average of at least 75% (some popular majors require higher grades.) For the 2025-2026 academic year, tuition for international undergraduate students is approximately C$23,800, and the university provides students with $5.5 million annually in scholarships and bursaries to support their studies.
Campus Experience
MRU is a smaller university with smaller class sizes than most large universities. In my experience, the professors here are more approachable, friendly, and supportive of students than those at larger schools. The library is great and offers many services to help students through their programs. One downside is that the school is a bit far from the C-Train which connects to the main areas of the city. Despite this, Calgary Transit has opened a direct express bus line to the school that connects to the downtown area.
