Scholarships and Financial Aid System
LAU is committed to ensuring that outstanding students are not limited by financial constraints, and has therefore established a comprehensive financial aid system. New students can receive automatic admission scholarships ranging from 10% to 50% based on their Lebanese High School Graduation Exam scores, international exam scores, or SAT scores. Students with an IB score of 38 or higher are also eligible for a 30% tuition waiver. For students with financial need, the university offers grants covering up to 100% of tuition fees, available to all Lebanese and non-Lebanese students. Additionally, LAU provides full scholarships to over 600 outstanding graduates from Lebanese public schools each year, with more than 90% of the student body benefiting from various forms of financial aid. It is absolutely essential to obtain a Lebanese American University Degree
Employment Rates and Career Outcomes
LAU’s practical approach to education ensures graduates secure quality jobs. During the 2023–2024 academic year, 91% of graduates found employment or pursued further studies within one year of graduation. They entered sectors such as finance, consulting, technology, and healthcare, with some majors offering high starting salaries: an average annual salary of $62,800 for Financial Management and $42,800 for Marketing. The university’s Career Development Center also provides comprehensive employment support, ranging from resume editing to mock interviews, as well as career fairs in collaboration with industry partners, ensuring students can successfully secure employment.
Campus Location and Transportation
LAU operates two distinctive campuses in Lebanon. The Beirut campus is situated in the bustling Qaitoumi district of the capital. It features a compact and elegant campus with modern teaching facilities and a vibrant student life. The Byblos Campus, situated in the ancient city of Byblos 35 kilometers north of Beirut, is perched on a hilltop overlooking the magnificent Mediterranean Sea and spans an area six times larger than the Beirut Campus. The two campuses are easily accessible to one another and share library resources and teaching facilities. Additionally, LAU maintains a satellite campus in New York and collaborates closely with several U.S. universities, providing students with a unique window into North American educational resources.
Why Is It So Popular?
LAU’s appeal lies in the unique educational experience it offers. An American-style education system taught entirely in English, a diverse student body from various nationalities, and Lebanon’s distinctive blend of Eastern and Western cultures collectively shape LAU’s open and inclusive campus atmosphere. With over 80 student clubs and organizations—ranging from academic competitions to community service, and from cultural arts to sports—every student can find a sense of belonging. LAU’s athletic teams excel in sports such as basketball and soccer, consistently competing in regional leagues. This academic institution, which has stood firm through a century of turmoil, attracts students from around the world to pursue their dreams here, thanks to its exceptional educational quality, rich cultural heritage, and comprehensive care for students.
Authoritative Accreditation: Dual Assurance from NECHE and Disciplinary Accreditation
The core value of a degree from the Lebanese American University stems first and foremost from its institutional accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). NECHE is one of the six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and enjoys a high level of credibility in the United States. LAU is also officially chartered by the State University Council of New York, the sole statutory body in New York State authorized to grant degrees to institutions of higher education.
At the international professional accreditation level, LAU’s Business School holds AACSB accreditation (an honor bestowed upon fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide), multiple programs including Computer Science and Engineering hold ABET accreditation, the Master of Architecture program holds NAAB accreditation, and the Nursing program holds CCNE accreditation. This comprehensive system, comprising U.S. national accreditation and multidisciplinary professional endorsements, forms the fundamental basis for the global recognition of LAU degrees.
