Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) was established in 1992 as one of five public polytechnics founded by the Singapore government to meet the demand for technical talent driven by economic development. As a public institution under the Ministry of Education, NYP is widely recognized as a world-class comprehensive polytechnic for its rigorous academic standards and innovative teaching philosophy. Scholarships and Financial Aid System
NYP offers highly attractive financial aid policies for international students. Eligible students may receive the Singapore Government Tuition Grant, which provides up to 80% tuition waiver. Students accepting the grant must sign an agreement with the Singapore government to work for a registered Singaporean company for three years after graduation, with a starting salary typically ranging from S$1,300 to S$1,800. This is not an unpaid obligation but rather paid employment.
Additionally, high-achieving students have the opportunity to apply for full scholarships and living expense subsidies, as well as specialized scholarships established by NYP itself. For students receiving the Tuition Grant, the actual annual tuition cost is only approximately S$2,450 (after the reduction). Including living expenses, accommodation costs, and other fees, the total annual cost of studying abroad is approximately RMB 200,000 to 250,000. Students who have been enrolled for more than six months may also apply for legal part-time work, limited to no more than 16 hours per week, with an hourly wage of approximately S$5 to S$8.

NYP graduates are highly competitive in the Singaporean job market, with the graduate employment rate consistently maintaining above 90%. Graduates in popular majors are particularly sought after by employers; there is strong demand in the Singaporean job market for professionals in engineering, information technology, and health sciences, with starting monthly salaries typically ranging from S$2,000 to S$2,500.
As graduates of a Singapore government polytechnic, students will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency from the Singapore Immigration Authority upon graduation. Compared to university graduates, polytechnic graduates have a distinct advantage in obtaining Singapore permanent residency. Additionally, NYP diplomas are recognized by over 100 overseas universities, including institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Graduates may enter these universities for further study without taking entrance exams, complete their undergraduate programs in 1 to 2 years, and subsequently pursue master’s degrees and higher.
Applicants to NYP must have completed high school, achieved a college entrance exam score above the local second-tier university cutoff, and typically meet an IELTS score requirement of 5.5 or higher. Certain programs, such as Nursing and Digital Media Design, have additional requirements, such as science course grades or drawing proficiency tests.
