LIU operates on a credit-hour system, with instruction primarily conducted in English. The university comprises five colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Engineering, and the College of Pharmacy. The College of Arts and Sciences covers a wide range of disciplines, including biology, chemistry, computer science, media arts, and nutrition; the College of Business offers programs in accounting, finance, international business, and hospitality management; the College of Engineering includes courses in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and telecommunications engineering; and the College of Pharmacy offers a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The Beirut campus boasts impressive physical facilities, comprising seven buildings, including the main library, the pharmacy library, and research laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. In terms of professional accreditation, the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program at LIU’s College of Pharmacy has received international accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). ACPE is the only pharmacy accreditation body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and its international accreditation standards are extremely rigorous; only a handful of non-U.S. institutions worldwide have earned this distinction. ACPE accreditation grants LIU School of Pharmacy graduates a significant competitive advantage when applying for pharmacist licensure in Europe and the United States, as it directly meets the academic requirements of the pharmaceutical industry in many countries.
